Ski Fernie Alpine Resort

Mountains of snow, mountains of adventure! An amazing 29 feet of natural snow blankets the ski area’s impressive five alpine bowls nestled in the majestic limestone cliffs of the Lizard Range in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia. This is the fastest growing resort in Canada, “top ten in North America’, ‘most improved’ and ‘best new lifts’ are just a few of the notable awards this resort has earned. You choose your level of adventure at Fernie, steep and deep or smooth and gentle, you will love our incredible variety of terrain. With over 2500 skiable acres and 2811 vertical feet. Our season runs from the end of November to about the middle of April. The terrain consists of 30% Novice, 40% Intermediate, and 30% Expert.

Fernie Alpine Resort has a Snow Guarantee, and if snow conditions do not meet with your expectations, return your lift ticket within one hour of purchase and they will give you a snow check valid for another day.

For all of our guests, we offer Fernie Alpine Resort lift ticket delivery service by having them waiting for you when you arrive so you don't have to wait in the long line ups. Ask our reservation specialist about incorporating lift tickets into your accommodation package.

Cat skiing is also available in the area, as well as over 15 kilometers (9 miles) of groomed cross-country ski trails at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Mountain Information

Beginners:
The Mini Moose and Mighty Moose lifts are the place to start for the wee ones in the group and for the ‘first timer’ skiers and snowboarders. For the ultimate confidence boost we recommend a lesson with the friendly Winter Sports School professionals. They will have you cruising with confidence and a smile! The Deer and Elk Chair lifts access wide open daily groomed rolling slopes perfect for all ages of beginner and intermediate skiers and riders. These well marked runs and return-to-base access will keep parents worry free.

Intermediates:
The runs off the Elk Chair lift are some of the best to warm up your ski legs, then try the Boomerang Chair for the easiest access to the fabulous Cedar Bowl terrain. Most of the runs in Lizard and Cedar Bowls are marked blue/intermediate, choose your favorite of the day! The high speed Timber Bowl Express and White Pass Quad take you to new heights on the mountain and more than enough exciting terrain to explore. Need to get your bearings? Meet at the base area for a complimentary Mountain Host Tour departing at 9:30 and 1:30pm daily.

Experts:
You will love this mountain! Unbelievable variety in terrain to explore (for days)! Glades, steeps, POWDER, bumps, you want it, you find it, you ski it! Advanced group lessons, specialty clinics, one-on-one privates, First Tracks Club, our Winter Sports School professionals are ready and waiting for you, stop by the Guest Services/Ski School counter to register for all programs.

Snowboarding:
On the lower mountain, when snow conditions permit, the terrain park will keep you coming back with quick access and the best in turn around time from the Deer Chair Lift. But remember, you have unlimited access to nature’s greatest terrain park -our 2500+ acres of snow covered mountain - which features the best in natural gullies, hits, POWDER and more!
